Rescue

It can be stressful getting a Rescue dog and you may be unsure what to do with your new or upcoming arrival from a shelter. Here at Dog Guru we have Kylie as our resident rescue expert who also works the staff on educating them.

What to Expect

  • The dog you get may need to be taught manners and boundaries inside the house and environment as may not know them yet
  • May be nervous for a few days then after that may not leave your side
  • They may come with some behavioural issues that you may have to live with or can get help with - don't let this hold you back
  • They may be different from when you saw them in the shelter environment
  • If you have another dog in the house consider giving it a good walk before coming home with the new arrival

What to look for in a shelter

  • Clean dog and clean environment
  • Should show an interest in people at the shelter if possible
  • The shelter asks you questions about your home environment and previous experience

Benefits

  • You are taking home a dog that may have not survived
  • Ending up with a loving companion who adores you.
